e-HGV

Electric heavy goods vehicle — a battery-electric truck above 3.5 tonnes, doing the same distribution and haulage work as a diesel HGV but constrained by battery range and charging.

Also: Electric HGV, Electric Heavy Goods Vehicle, eHGV

An e-HGV is an electric heavy goods vehicle — a battery-electric truck over 3.5 tonnes, commonly in the 7.5t, 18t, and 44t articulated classes. It does the same distribution and haulage work as a diesel HGV, but its planning is shaped by usable battery range, energy consumption that varies sharply with payload, gradient, and weather, and the need to recharge at the depot or en route. Optrak plans e-HGV operations with a physics-based EV consumption model and treats in-route charging as a constraint inside route construction rather than a check afterwards.
